HISTORY

To overcome the shortage of skilled manpower at the National Fertilizer Corporation, especially in the chemical process industry, the authorities established a Training Center in 1985 with technical assistance from M/s. COSMO International Co., Ltd., Japan.

The Center provides training to engineers, supervisors, operators, technicians, and administrative staff through modern, multi-dimensional programs. These programs feature a comprehensive and up-to-date structure, offering flexible content and duration to address all aspects of process and engineering.

The training program was later upgraded to align with the education policy set by the Government of Pakistan. With approval from the Ministry of Industries & Production, Government of Pakistan, NFC expanded its training center in 1994 by introducing graduate engineering classes in Chemical Engineering, renaming it the NFC Institute of Engineering & Technological Training.

Continuing its progress, the institute introduced two additional programs—Electronics Engineering and Computer System Engineering—in 2001. Later, the institution launched a four-year BS program in Computer Science in 2008, followed by a four-year BS program in Environmental Sciences in 2011.

Subsequently, NFC IET introduced degree programs under the administration of Baha Uddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan, and secured accreditation from the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
