The University of Engineering and Technology UET, Taxila was established in 1975. In 2005, its first campus was Established in Chakwal, which has since enrolled students in Electronics and Mechatronics Engineering for around five sessions. The sub-campus is located in the heart of Chakwal city, within the old Kachehri complex on Talagang Road.
UET Taxila’s Chakwal sub-campus offers four-year undergraduate programs in Electronics and Mechatronics Engineering. In the second phase, the sub-campus plans to launch three additional departments. With support from the Higher Education Commission, degree programs in Electrical, Mechanical, and Gas & Petroleum Engineering will also be introduced.
The Campus Director, under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor of UET Taxila, serves as the executive and academic head of the Sub-Campus Chakwal. The rules and regulations of UET Taxila are implemented at the Chakwal sub-campus. Additionally, UET Taxila is planning to establish a campus in Pind Dadan Khan, located in the Jhelum District.
Administration
The Governor of Punjab serves as the Chancellor of the University. The Education Minister of Punjab is the Pro-Chancellor. The Syndicate acts as the main governing body. The Academic Council is the highest academic authority. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer.
Deans, Department Chairmen, Directors, and Principal Officers assist him. Key officers include the Registrar, Treasurer, Controller of Examinations, and Project Director. They ensure that the University Act, Statutes, and Regulations are properly followed and implemented.
Location
The University campus is on the outskirts of Taxila, 5 km from the city. It is near Mohra Shah Wali Shah railway station on the Taxila-Havelian branch line. Taxila is 35 km from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is located on the main Rawalpindi-Peshawar highway.
University buses run daily between the campus and the cities of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Wah Cantt. The campus spans 163 acres. It includes teaching departments, residential colonies for staff, student hostels, guesthouses, post offices, and banks.

UET Taxila Central Library
The Central Library plays a key role in sharing knowledge, supporting teaching, research, and extension services. It can accommodate about 400 readers in different halls, providing a comfortable study environment. The library operates in two shifts from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on all working days, with regular breaks.

It holds encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, standard specifications, yearbooks, almanacs, abstracts, indexes, and a large collection of reference and technical books.
Stocks and Services
The library has 63,501 books and various issues of scientific and technical journals on different subjects. In addition to engineering, it offers a wide range of books on humanities, social sciences, and Islamic studies.
Members can borrow books and other materials; however, they cannot borrow serials, reference books, or reserved books. Additionally, they can borrow items for a specific period. Furthermore, they have the option to reserve items that are currently checked out. To do so, they must submit a reservation card at the circulation counter.
The Knowledge House has 100 personal computers with free internet access. It also features a Digital Library to support the information needs of students and research scholars.

UET Taxila Health facilities
The University offers medical facilities for its employees and students. Key features of the student health policy include the following:
Students receive free consultations from the Medical Officer. Medicines are provided only with an authorized prescription. Night dispensary services are available only in emergencies. In a severe emergency, if a student cannot move, an immediate report is made to the RT.
The RT arranges treatment, including an ambulance, consultation, or admission, as per rules. The student is responsible for the expenses. Boarders must submit a medical history form mentioning any existing diseases. Indoor treatment from unauthorized medical attendants is not allowed.
Student Hostels
The campus provides limited hostel accommodation for male students. Rooms are allotted based on academic merit. Students involved in misconduct, indiscipline, rule violations, or political activities are not eligible. The hostel does not accommodate casual students. Additionally, the administration will cancel a student’s allotment if their attendance is low. They may reapply in the next semester if their attendance improves.
Transport
The University provides Proper transport facilities for students. Buses run between Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Hassanabdal, Wah Cantt, and the campus. However, this service is not a university obligation. The administration may reduce or discontinue it based on policy or financial conditions.
