Quaid-e-Azam University College of Engineering, Science & Technology (QUCEST), Larkana was established to bring engineering and technology education closer to the people of interior Sindh. The government approved this plan during the PDWP meeting of the Sindh government on May 25, 2009.
To meet the needs of Sindh’s upper region, a constituent college of Quaid-e-Azam University of Engineering, Science & Technology was founded. Named Quaid-e-Azam University College of Engineering, Science & Technology (QUCEST), Larkana, it started its first intake in January 2010.
Initially, the Engineering College was set up in the Government Home Economics College, Larkana. The Government of Sindh’s Education and Literacy Department provided the buildings for this purpose.
These buildings offered enough space for administrative offices, classrooms, and laboratories to conduct classes.
About 350 acres of land was acquired from the Government of Sindh in Larkana on Moen-jo-Daro Road near Areeja. This land is reserved for building a spacious college infrastructure. Construction will begin once all necessary resources are available.
The first enrolled batch completed its degree program in December 2013. The Pakistan Engineering Council has accredited this program.
QUCEST Affiliation
The Quaid-e-Azam University of Engineering, Sciences & Technology (QUEST), Larkana, is a recognized university. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) accredits QUEST.
The college offers a Bachelor of Engineering degree in the following four disciplines
Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering. It involves designing and building essential infrastructure for society, such as homes, roads, airports, bridges, canals, railways, and river control systems.
Civil Engineering is present in all sectors, from small private firms to multinational companies. This makes it a diverse and highly demanded field.
Developing countries like Pakistan need more infrastructure compared to developed nations. Public sector universities in Sindh have worked hard to meet the industry’s demands. However, there is still a shortage of Civil Engineers in the region.
Mechanical Engineering
The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Department is to provide up-to-date knowledge and skills in design, manufacturing, production, fabrication, installation, and maintenance. This prepares graduates to meet the challenges of industry, academia, and society.
Since its inception in 2009, the Mechanical Engineering Department has aimed to provide quality education to students in interior Sindh. It stands as one of the four main pillars of Engineering College Larkana.
The department was established in 2009, and since then, about 350 students have graduated. They are working in major national and international organizations such as WAPDA, OGDCL, NESPAK, PSO, KPT, DESCON, and textile industries. Many of our graduates are also employed in Gulf countries.
The department offers a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering after completing a four-year (8-term) undergraduate program. The syllabus includes practical-oriented subjects, allowing students to gain technical knowledge through laboratory experiments and workshop practice in a supportive learning environment.
With advancements in robotics and automation, the department has incorporated industrial electronics and mechatronics into the curriculum. Additionally, the department offers short courses on mechanical engineering software such as AutoCAD, Pro-E, CNC, CAD/CAM, and PLC.

Electrical Engineering
The department offers a four-year (8-term) undergraduate program leading to a B.E. in Electrical Engineering. The courses are designed to help young engineers gain confidence in the field or pursue advanced studies and research.
Graduates can work not only in Pakistan but also in international industries and academic institutions. The courses include laboratory work, site demonstrations, and group discussions to enhance learning.
In the laboratory, students conduct experiments on power measurement techniques, circuit theory, electronics, and digital systems. The lab has analog and digital oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, multimeters, experiment sets, and circuit components.
Electronic Engineering
Since its inception in 2009, the Electronic Engineering Department has aimed to provide quality education to students in interior Sindh. It stands as one of the four main pillars of Engineering College Larkana.
The department aims to be a center of excellence in teaching and research in Electronic Engineering. It strives to train skilled professionals for national development and enhance the quality of life by promoting public awareness of scientific and technological advancements.
The department offers a four-year (8-term) program leading to a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering degree. It provides formal education through teaching, practical experiments, and industrial training to prepare students for careers as engineers, scientists, and educators.
