Quaid-e-Azam University College of Engineering Science and Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah

Quaid-e-Azam University College of Engineering Science and Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah

Quaid-e-Azam University College of Engineering Science, and Technology (QUEST) was upgraded to university status on August 7, 1996, through an ordinance. This change was later ratified by an Act of the Sindh Assembly, renaming it Quaid-e-Azam University of Engineering, Science, and Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah. QUEST is accredited by the Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Engineering Council.

The Sindh University Engineering College Jamshoro, a constituent college of the University of Sindh, was established in 1963 to provide quality engineering education to students in remote areas of Sindh. Recognizing the need for specialized technical education, the government aimed to expand its scope and impact.

In alignment with the 1972 education policy, authorities decided to upgrade the college into a full-fledged University of Engineering & Technology and relocate it to Nawabshah. This strategic move aimed to enhance access to advanced engineering education and better accommodate the growing number of students.

As a result, the first-year classes commenced at the new Nawabshah campus in February 1974, marking the beginning of a new era in engineering education. The transition not only broadened academic opportunities but also contributed to the region’s technological and industrial development by producing skilled engineers equipped to meet evolving industry demands.

In July 1976, the institution entered its second phase and was designated as an additional campus of the University of Sindh through an amendment to the Sindh University Act of 1972, with a Pro Vice-Chancellor appointed to lead it. On March 1, 1977, the campus was upgraded to university status through an ordinance.
