UST Bannu, a public sector university established by the Provincial Assembly, is dedicated to delivering quality education. It offers programs in Life Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Business Studies, and Humanities. Since its inception, UST Bannu has successfully pursued this mission.
The university began its first academic year in September 2005, enrolling 200 students across various disciplines in the Institute of Information Technology (IIT) and the Institute of Management Sciences (IMS), following proper entry tests and interviews. Currently, the university offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, with plans to introduce Ph.D. programs in the future.
The student population is expected to grow with the initiation of new faculties and higher enrollment rates at affiliated colleges in the region. UST Bannu is an autonomous institution governed by the Chancellor’s Committee until the Syndicate is formed. This Committee, headed by the Governor of NWFP, was established via ordinance in 2005 and consists of seven members.
It serves as the major policy making and controlling body of the university. The Committee is a think tank composed of education experts, religious scholars, business community representatives, and senior government officials. Its role is to connect the university with the community and the business world. It helps create a dynamic and forward-thinking institution. This connection is essential for building a strong academic foundation.

Mission
The mission of UST Bannu is to offer learning, research, and innovation opportunities. It focuses on pure and applied sciences, as well as social sciences and humanities. The goal is to contribute to the prosperity of the region.
Affiliation
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan recognizes the University of Science and Technology (UST) Bannu. The University of Science and Technology (UST) Bannu offers programs that meet HEC standards. It also provides well-equipped libraries to support students’ academic and research needs.
Library
The library currently holds around 80,000 books, along with national newspapers, periodicals, computer magazines, journals, CDs, and audiovisual cassettes. Students and faculty can use the library in the morning and evening hours.
Library Facilities & Rules:
- The library is connected to major foreign libraries via the internet, allowing access to the latest research.
- It remains open during working hours for faculty, staff, and students.
- A non-transferable library card is issued to each member and must be returned when obtaining clearance.
- If a card is lost, the member must inform the librarian. A duplicate card will be issued for a fee.
- Members can borrow up to four books for 14 days.
- A fine of 10 rupee per day applies for overdue books.
- Students must replace lost or damaged books at three times their current price.
- Students must leave their personal belongings at the counter.
- Eating, smoking, sleeping, and loud conversations are strictly prohibited in the library.
Computer Laboratories
The University of Science & Technology, Bannu will offer air-conditioned computer labs with the latest computers. These labs will have modern teaching tools like multimedia projectors and audiovisual equipment. Students will also have access to free internet facilities.
Sports Activities
The University of Science & Technology, Bannu, focuses on nurturing both the intellect and physical well-being of its students. It encourages students to participate in sports alongside academics. Sports activities are promoted at inter-department, inter-college, and inter-university levels.
Both male and female students can participate in sports events, which will be organized separately when needed. Furthermore, the university is developing playgrounds for sports activities. To enhance sports engagement, the university has established a Directorate of Sports to oversee and promote sports activities. Moreover, in addition to the Sports Complex in Bannu, UST Bannu has a large playground at its Main Campus in Bannu Township.
Students Cafeteria
The university has canteens on all three campuses that provide food and refreshments in a clean and peaceful environment. Students and staff sit together, fostering an educational atmosphere through interaction. Additionally, an international-standard cafeteria has been built at the Main Campus.
Ust Bannu Hostel
The university provides hostel facilities for students from distant areas. Currently, there are two boys hostels, one bachelor’s hostel, and one girls’ hostel. Moreover, to accommodate more students, the university has rented additional buildings outside the campus. All hostels maintain a peaceful and academic environment.
